Vera R. Ciammetti was born in New York to Italian Immigrants from Abruzzo, L’Aquila.
She learned secrets of the la vera cucina (the true kitchen in Italian) from her mamma
and nonna. Many trips to Italy added to her culinary skills as she cooked along
with her cousins and aunts. Vera will be making authentic, rustic dishes
learned from years of being in the kitchen with famiglia.
Vera is currently Sunday Guest Chef at 123 Bolinas Wine Bar in Fairfax; a monthly
instructor at VIVA Italian Food, Wine & Culture Program in Sebastopol;
Draeger’s Cooking School in San Mateo and also hosts lavish dinners, wine
tastings, olive oil tastings, canning classes and much more in her home. Vera
is an active member and Treasurer of Slow Food San Francisco and has worked at
Slow Food Italia in Bra, Italy.
Vera will be preparing Abruzzo classics like risotto al zafferano, polenta,
minestrone, gnocchi, lasagna, spaghetti con le vongole, biscotti, and a variety of seasonal specialties
all 100% organic and sourced locally (with the exception of imported
